My name is Jeni Huezo. I just graduated from Parkdale high school in Prince George's County Maryland. I am Mirant Corporation/USHYEE Scholar and an intern at U.S. Hispanic Youth Entrepreneur Education (USHYEE).  One afternoon after watching the news about the oil spill, the gravity of the situation dawned on me.  Project RESTORE! was born out of a discussion I had with USHYEE  President Luis Borunda. That afternoon, I shared what I had learned about the Gulf of Mexico disaster with Mr. Borunda and I finally understood; I had to do something about it, but what? What was I going to do? I could give donations to help support the organizations working near the gulf area, but I didn't even have a job. "Oh well," I said to myself "one day you will be able to help."  But I just couldn't let that thought or desire to contribute escape. What was happening in the Gulf area was unacceptable. In my conversation with Mr. Borunda I told him that I didn’t know much about the BP oil spill but I felt we had a duty to share. So I suggested that it would be a good idea for USHYEE to take part in building awareness and help the families affected by this disaster.  Little did I know what we were planning.  This small idea has become bigger and we need people like you to help.

The Mission of Project Restore is to provide support to the families impacted by the Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico by aligning ourselves with existing organizations providing direct services to these families.
The Vision is to aid 1,000 families impacted by the Horizon Oil Disaster
The Goal would like to raise $100,000 to help families in the Gulf of Mexico region and involve 10,000 students in a meaningful way in this effort.

Our Motto: Helping to Restore life in Louisiana
As U.S. Hispanic Youth Entrepreneur Education (USHYEE) students, we are thinking about the untold economic devastation of families due to the oil spill in Gulf of Mexico (GOM).  We have decided that we cannot sit idly while millions of our fellow Americans and their children suffer.

We know that it will take all of us across the nation to do something no matter how small the effort. It is with the desire “to do something” that USHYEE students are banding together to raise funds for the relief efforts taking place in the GOM region. We will be hosting Car Wash and Yard Sale fundraisers for children and families in the devastated Louisiana area. We are calling this fundraising effort Restore.
The name Restore simply reflects our desire to see the region’s heart and soul restored. We know that people’s lives have been shattered financially, socially and spiritually and this is our effort to help Restore.

Will you help USHYEE students in our effort to Restore by getting your car washed, donating an item to our Yard Sale or better yet, buying something at one of our Yard Sales? We are forming teams so you can join us too! For more information on how you can help please fill out the form below.
